GatiPhysiotherapy & Rehab

Your First Visit

Starting physiotherapy shouldn't feel intimidating. Your initial 45-minute consultation is entirely focused on clarity: identifying the exact source of your pain, explaining the mechanics to you in plain English, and mapping out a realistic path to recovery.

The Assessment Process

1
Physiotherapist taking patient history

Subjective History

We begin by listening. We discuss how your pain started, what aggravates it, and what your specific functional goals are. This is not a rushed conversation; it forms the foundation of clinical reasoning.

2
Physiotherapist performing biomechanical assessment

Biomechanical Assessment

A thorough physical examination. We assess your posture, range of motion, joint mechanics, neural mobility, and load tolerance to pinpoint the mechanical source of the dysfunction.

3
Physiotherapist explaining clinical diagnosis

Clinical Explanation

We translate our findings into plain English. We explain exactly what structures are involved, why they are overloaded, and what the rehabilitation timeline will realistically look like.

4
Treatment room ready for patient

Initial Treatment & Plan

Treatment begins on day one. We use targeted modalities to reduce immediate symptoms and provide you with a structured home exercise program to maintain progress before your next session.

How to Prepare

To ensure we can conduct a full assessment efficiently, please review the following checklist before your arrival.

What to wear

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you are experiencing lower body pain, please bring shorts. For upper body issues, a vest or tank top is recommended to allow observation of joint mechanics.

Medical Reports

If you have any previous MRI scans, X-rays, or surgical reports related to your condition, please bring them physically or have them accessible on your phone.

Arrival Time

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete any necessary intake forms without rushing.

Common Questions

How long does the first appointment take?

Initial assessments are scheduled for 45 to 60 minutes to ensure a comprehensive evaluation without time pressure.

Will the assessment be painful?

Certain clinical tests may briefly reproduce your symptoms to confirm the diagnosis, but the process is highly controlled and we never force movement beyond your tolerance.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No, you can book directly. If we assess your condition and determine it requires orthopaedic or surgical review, we will refer you to the appropriate specialist.
